The word chuchotage comes from the French word, chuchoter, to whisper. It is simply simultaneous interpreting but without the aid of technology. It is only used when there are very few people in need of the translation. The interpreter usually sits next to the client and while the speaker is speaking, they whisper the translation in the ear of the listener. The technique of chuchotage can be used in professional training courses, business meetings or seminars.
